St. Mary's TysoeThe first Sunday of the month heralded in our new style Children’s Service.  With the suitable theme of Advent, when the Angel Gabriel brought good news to Elizabeth and Mary, the children disappeared to the ‘Rainbow Corner’ during the service and then emerged waving pretty angels they had made. They were much applauded and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.  Thank you to all those who organised the group, and those who decorated the ‘Rainbow Corner’.  The next service will be on 4th January at 11 o’clock.

When we sent our previous news in early for December’s Tysoe Record, our Christmas Fair had still to be held.  We are pleased to report it was a very successful Fair, with the Christmas Hampers brimming with overwhelming goodies donated by kind supporters, including the village shops. A good spread of winners around Tysoe were pleased when their raffle prizes were delivered. Thank you to everybody who helped in any way – making cakes, donating gifts, serving refreshments, running the stalls etc. and for coming along.

The Festival Choir is up and running and is preparing for the Nine Lessons and Carols Service on Tuesday 23rd December. John Baylis has been kind and patient, Gill Roache magical on the piano as always, and we send a warm thank you to Martin & Sue for inviting us to rehearse in the Vicarage during the cold snap.

Do try and come along to some of the “Fellowship” get-togethers. Enquiries to Rev Martin Leaton on 680201 – we meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 7.30pm.

FOR OUR PRAYERS

Our very best wishes go to everyone who is ill at the moment - especially if you are in hospital. Get well soon!

PRAYER CORNER

We have recently improved our facilities for people who drop in during the week to say a quiet prayer. In the far left corner of the church - the side chapel nearest the organ - there are now lots of prayer resources and books. There is also a board on which to leave requests for prayer on Sunday. Thanks to Anne Mean and Christine Chapman for setting this up. (P.S. Just in case you hadn't realized, the Church is open during daylight hours.)

GUIDED TYSOE WALKS

Guides to Tysoe Village walksResponding to great demand a series of guided walks around the Tysoe area are now available in church. Written by Geoff Mean, designed by Kay Medlin and David Knight, the five walks - 'Lower Tysoe Walk', Old Lodge Walk', 'The Three Parishes Walk', 'The Village Walk' and 'The Epwell Walk' are all now available. The full colour brochures provide a detailed description of each walk, a map and photos of key points on the walk. They are free but we would appreciate a donation of £1 each (in the church wall safe by the door). Happy exploring!

The first two of the series are also available from this website! Just click here to be taken to the Guided Walks page.

Churchyard Working Party

Continues to meet in the churchyard on the second Tuesday of the month at 2:00 p.m.. We supplement the work of the grass cutting contractors by strimming, clearing gutters, painting and so on. Our most recent project is the creation of a wild flower area. If you'd like to help, please contact Gordon Head on 01295 680619.

See also the note regarding breakable pots in the graveyard.
